# Assistant

> Ask Yorlet AI about your account, and let it propose notes, emails, and Recover enrolment.

The assistant is a chat panel in the Dashboard. It can search customers, invoices, applications, tenancies, and more, then show the results next to its answer. When you ask it to change something, the write goes through [agent policy](/business-automation/ai/policy).

## Open the assistant

To open the assistant, follow these steps:

1. Enable [Yorlet AI](/business-automation/ai/overview) if you have not already.
2. Click **Assistant** in the sidebar footer, or press **⌘ /** (Control / on Windows).

The panel opens on the right. Click the expand control to widen it, or press **Esc** to close it.

If Yorlet AI is not on the account, the panel explains the product and links to [Yorlet AI plan](https://dashboard.yorlet.com/settings/plans/ai).

## Ask a question

Type in **Ask me anything…** and send. Suggested prompts appear on an empty chat — for example who has overdue invoices, this week's new applications, or finding a customer by name or email.

When you have a customer, invoice, application, subscription, or tenancy open, the composer shows that the record is available as context. The suggested prompts then match that page, such as **Catch me up on this customer** or **Why is this overdue?**.

<Tip>
  Ask the assistant to look something up before it writes. For a name or email, it will search first and confirm the right record if there is more than one match.
</Tip>

## Start or switch chats

The title at the top of the panel is the current chat. Click it to switch to an earlier conversation, or click the pencil button to start a new one. The first reply in a new chat becomes its title.

## When the assistant wants to write

If you ask it to add a note, send an email, or enrol invoices in Recover, it proposes the action instead of calling the API itself.

* **Auto-execute** — the write runs immediately. The chat shows the result.
* **Require approval** — an approval appears in the chat and on the [Approvals page](https://dashboard.yorlet.com/approvals). The write has not happened yet.
* **Deny** — policy blocks the action. Nothing is created.

On a pending email, the card shows the recipient, subject, and body. Click **Approve** to send it, or **Review** to open the full approval. The assistant sends from the [agent address](/business-automation/inbox/agents) and writes the message to a [thread](/business-automation/inbox/overview) in Inbox.

<Note>
  If the assistant says an approval is waiting, check [Approvals](/business-automation/ai/approvals). Do not tell a customer that an email has gone out until the status is **Executed**.
